Beauty Favorites: November 2013

I wanted to start a new monthly series on my blog where I discuss what beauty products that I have been loving for the month and most importantly, why. In the past, I have done monthly favorite videos on my YouTube channel. This will continue but most likely not until the new year because I have a lot on my agenda. If I do a December favorites, it will contain my favorites from  the entire year of 2013.

I digress.

So, here are the products I currently love.

LORAC Unzipped Palette – I have recently got into wearing eye shadow out of the strong desire to make use of all the wonderful palettes that I own. I first cracked open this palette for my 27th birthday makeup and I have been in love ever since. The colors are perfect for my complexion. While the colors are very pigmented, they can also be blended easily with a MAC 217 brush. I also love that this palette contains a very nice combination of shimmering and matte shadows.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed – Can we just stop and appreciate the beauty in such a simple color? It is the perfect nude blush for my complexion. Although it looks in the pan as if it would not show up on me, it gives some detail to my cheeks but looks very natural on. I have been wearing this very frequently, which is almost an exact repeat of last year. I seem to prefer this blush in the cooler months, when I start to lose my summer tan.

Chanel Nail Color in Rose Cache – I originally purchased this color to wear on my wedding day. However, after wearing bright colors on my nails for weeks on end…I wanted to try a nude color that was close to my natural complexion. So, one day I pulled this out and the rest was history. I not only love the color but I have always been a fan of the Chanel nail le vernis nail color formula. This shade is no different. It only takes two coats to be opaque to my liking. Not certain if I will still use it for the wedding, but it will definitely be a staple in my collection

Tarte Lash Curler – Not much to say other than my lashes needed a boost and this gave me just that. I have went back to curling my lashes each time before I apply mascara. It has most certainly helped in opening my eyes and giving my small blonde lashes some life.

Dolce & Gabbana The One Parfum – Have fell in love again with this scent and it has been competing very heavily with my Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey cologne. Sephora.com describes the fragrance as follows:

The One is a warm, oriental floral, with modern sensuality - a fragrance with a strong personality, and a contrasting golden sweetness. Created for the ultimate diva, The One is at once tempting, modern, and glamorous, embracing a touch of classicism. The top notes radiate a vibrant luminosity, with a sun-touched citrus, while warm fruity notes of luscious lychee and succulent peach add to the delight. The passionate heart evokes an exploding femininity, with an opulent floral soul, creating a distinct, audacious signature. An unexpected hint of plum glows as the base finally blooms with luscious allure into the lasting warmth of vanilla and sweetened ambery-musk notes.

Benefit POREfessional – I revisited using this product again out of the need for wanting to find a primer that masked my pores and also helped to keep my oily skin under control when wearing foundation. For a while I stood loyally by the Tarte 12-hour brightening primer but I am fairly certain now that it was breaking me out. Once I stopped using it, the breakouts went away. I love this primer because not only does a little bit of product go a very long way but it is the first primer I have used in a long time that I truly feel helps my makeup to stay just as I applied it throughout the day, especially in my oily t-zone. I have been using the same sample size for nearly four months now and it still has a lot of product left.

Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick – I first was made aware of these lipsticks because I was gifted the ‘Icon’ lipstick by Michelle over at micheleista.com. She sent me the color for my birthday and ever since I have been so intrigued by the brand. Since falling in love with the ‘Icon’ lipstick because of the packaging, pigmentation and wear…I have purchased three more lipsticks from the same line. I love all of these colors for different reasons. I love Fawn (described as a rose coral) because it is a shade that is nude on my complexion but doesn’t make me looked washed out. Nocturnal (described as a plum wine) is a favorite because it is such a beautiful wine colored lipstick that is not overbearing on the lips. I have included photos of me wearing each color, in case you want to see how the colors actually come out on the lips.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – Can we say Holy Grail, amazing, genius, etc.? I bought this palette after reading the review from Christine over at Temptalia.com and hearing a rave review from Tiffany D’s YouTube channel. I was in search of a finishing powder that was a natural as possible. Considering the Armani Luminous Silk is my Holy Grail foundation, I needed a finishing powder that would allow the product to continue to look like my own skin. Well, I found just what I was looking for in this palette. I will warn you that it is limited edition and very hard to find since the Sephora VIB sale a couple weeks ago. My most used shade by far is the first one because I use it to set my entire face after I am finish applying foundation and concealer. I have had a lot of people come to me when using the product to tell me I was glowing. I truly believe its because using the product makes the light reflects off your skin so nicely that it makes it seem like you have the best skin of your life.

What products are you loving this month? Anything I should give a try?

Just to let you know...I am crossing fingers this blog will have a new look by the weekend! Not sure if the Thanksgiving holiday will hamper that but I am excited to work with Designer Blogs again on revamping the look of this blog!
