Photo Roundup {Date Night Edition}

Let me first say...cheers to new friends and a random night of unexpected drinks, laughter and exploring Downtown Dallas with my husband! Since hubby works in Downtown Dallas now, he is able to explore almost every single day but he mentioned also wanting to show me around since I typically have no reason to hang out in downtown unless its a concert or basketball game at the American Airlines Center.

I caught the DART train down to Victory Park and walked to my hubby's job from the station. I was able to see inside the building he works at and also meet all of his new coworkers. It was a lot of fun considering he is going to be traveling to Chicago for work this week...it put my mind at ease to know he is traveling with cool people! haha!

We made reservations at Perry's Steakhouse! After dinner, we walked off our food, drinks and dessert by walking to Klyde Warren Park. We took in the sights at the park and enjoyed people watching a little and also observing a Salsa class that was taking place at the park while we were there. We then made our way to the W Hotel because I had always wanted to go there with babe and enjoy their lounge/bar area. It turned into an unexpected tour of what used to be The Ghostbar nightclub. I was unaware that it had been closed for over 2 years! After getting a tour of that area, as well as the pool, we ended up in the lounge/bar area to catch the end of the Miami Heat game. Here at the bar, we met even more great people...the bartender - Howard and our new friend - Reuben. I guess I should mention what prompted the tour of the entire hotel! I went to ask a security guard who was on duty a question about the hotel and told him my husband had never seen the Ghostbar. He then told me it didn't exist anymore...along with the reasons for that. And then asked if I would be interested in taking my husband on a private tour with his escort. So, we ended up spontaneously really enjoying ourselves between the tour and the free round of drinks & shots care of our new friend Reuben, who is a regular at the W Hotel lounge/bar. He literally knows everyone! We have been invited back today to enjoy the pool at our leisure and if the weather holds up...we plan to spend our day at the W hotel once hubby gets home from his boxing class.

Hope that was a decent enough recap even though I feel there are no amount of words that would do last night justice! Enjoy all the photos!

The Search for Peonies [in Dallas]

Long story short, I have been borderline obsessed with peonies for a very long time. I wanted them to be a part of my wedding bouquet, but they were not in season at the time. Peonies are a little harder to find in Texas because I have been told by florists that they have difficulty growing here! It seems they are more easily accessible in places like California and the Northeast.

I called a few places this morning to see what they had left and while Central Market told me they were out of season so they didn't have anymore...I called Whole Foods Park Lane in Dallas and they said they had a few left of pink or ivory. So, I left the house immediately to go pick some up! To my surprise, they had a fairly good selection left when I arrived.

The search has thus been ended...with SUCCESS! Do you have a favorite flower that is hard to find? Do share!

Wait until you see the photo roundup from date night with Hubby last night! It gave me ALLLLLLL SORTS OF LIFE!! I cannot give much away for now! :) Stay tuned!

Friday Photo (well, CÉLFIE) Roundup!

Hey hey beautiful girls! Happy happy FRIDAY! A four day work week sure does make the weekend feel like it came even quicker...even though technically it did by one day! We have a team lunch today in which we will be enjoying some yummy Texas style BBQ away from the office, but I wanted to make sure I shared this week's photo roundup first! I didn't take many pics (well other than selfies) so far this week because I have been heck of busy but I hope to catch up this weekend!

As if you aren't used to this already, here they are!

And yes, I am wearing shorts to way on jean Friday since I am expected to sit outside in the heat & humidity eating BBQ! Not a fan but these shorts will make it more tolerable!

Scarf - Zara (here)
Necklace - Kate Spade (here)
Shirt - Target (here)
Shorts - J. Crew (similar)

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick

Hey there beautiful girls! I have had a few questions about the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation stick and how it wears, photographs, etc. So, I hope to address those questions here! For those of you wondering, I am in the shade Golden because that matches the rest of my body more closely than the shade right below it (Warm Honey). I was matched at both Sephora and Nordstrom. I anticipate that once the weather changes here...I will have to go with the Warm Honey shade. As of right now, I am very sunkissed so Golden works perfect for me.

Does the foundation stick oxidize during wear? No, it doesn't. It is the same shade from application until the time I remove it.

How do you apply the foundation? I apply the foundation stick directly onto clean, dry, moisturized skin only. I then blend in the foundation with a flat top foundation brush. You can use any flat top foundation brush of your choice. I have also used it once with my hands but I much prefer using a brush to blend in the product.

Does it feel heavy on the skin being a cream foundation? Not at all! I was so surprised by the feel of it on my skin. Once it is on and blended in, I cannot even tell I am wearing foundation.

Is it your favorite foundation? OMGosh, yes! I have not worn any foundation more than I have worn this one since discovering it.

Is the color range friendly for women of color? I personally believe Bobbi Brown definitely tried their best to incorporate a wide range of shades for women of color. I am very pleased with the shade selection...from Alabaster all the way to Espresso they have us covered.

Does it work on your oily/combination skin? Yes, it works perfectly because I know exactly what to do to make it last on my skin. I first prime with Benefit Porefessional on the sides of nose where I have the largest pores (IMO). I then use the Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder as a primer in my T-zone area and the other areas I tend to get oily during the day. After that has settled onto my skin, I proceed with applying the foundation. I tend not to powder after the foundation is applied. However, on the days I do powder, I lightly powder my t-zone and cheeks with the URBAN DECAY Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder

So now to the photos that I took yesterday!

As you can see, it photographs very well both with flash and in natural direct sunlight without flash. If you are curious, I am wearing the HOURGLASS Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Empress.

I hope that this post helps answers any questions you may have had regarding this foundation! I will try and do an updated foundation routine when time permits.

Let me know if you have any additional questions that I did not address in the comments down below!

Memorial Day Weekend 2014 Part II

Part II of Memorial Day Weekend 2014 may have been more epic than Part I. Although I am quite sad that its back to work tomorrow, I can honestly say that this weekend was time well spent doing the things I love and enjoy. Hubby grilled out on Sunday and part of today as well once the weather took a turn for the better. We also discovered Bahama Bucks for the first time during this holiday weekend and I believe it may just take the award for 'Best Shaved Ice in DFW' (IMO). My favorite combination is Sour Grape and Red Raspberry. Yummers! Finally got to see Neighbors today and that was one funny movie! Definitely worth the $5.50 for the first show of the day! haha! Lastly, I did some much needed brush laundry yesterday because I have developed quite a few favorites that I only have one of...so when its dirty, I miss using it terribly. To minimize breakouts on my acne prone skin, I try not to use any brush more than 2 days in a row. So, what did you get into this holiday weekend? Do tell because I kept it pretty low key!

Oh yeah, I also painted my nails with Zoya 'Perrie' and had a killer training session with my husband!
