Zara Coat Obsession + Photo Diary

Hello beautiful girls! It has been quite the week for me. Most weeks are really busy for me but due to some upcoming deadlines…I worked a lot more “around the clock” this week than I am accustomed to. But, it was well worth it. I love having an excellent work life balance because that prepares me well for the weeks when I have to work at all hours of the night. I value my work life balance but I am also not afraid to roll up my sleeves and put in some hard time meeting my deadlines.

My last photo diary was when I attended the Stella & Dot brunch at the Las Colinas Country Club. Since then I have pretty much been going non-stop with work, married life and my Stella & Dot business. I still have yet to determine what my end goal is for being a Stella & Dot stylist. After years of buying the merchandise on my own, it made sense to become a stylist (especially for the sample perks). However, now that I am into it…it means so very much more to me than I ever thought it could. Maybe because I am my own boss…maybe because it allows me to combine my love of fashion with my individual style…maybe because it allows me to share my love of their products with all of you. My goal in the next month is to write it down and make it happen. I write down what Stella & Dot means to me now and where I want to go with it. Once I write it down, I know that I will be able to easily commit to whatever it is I decide to do. I hope to share that journey with you all!   If you want to check out the new Spring 2015 collection or any of the items from the permanent range, visit my Stella & Dot website. You can also email me from my personal site about becoming a stylist, hosting a trunk show (online or in person) or just to find out what pieces would work best for you!

As I look at the photos that I shared this week, I realize they are all over the place. Partially because our weather in Texas has been so bipolar…even more bipolar than I remember it being last year. We have swung from the 30s (and freezing) to 80 degrees all in a matter of two weeks! Another reason that I feel all over the place is because in the last two weeks, I have finally got back into my full workout routine and eating regimen. As a result, my straight hair only lasts about 2-3 days post-wash before its oily from working out so I put it up in a bun. Babe always says it looks great but I guess we are our own worse critics. And isn’t he supposed to say that? He is my husband!

On another note…

Thank you all you the questions you left in the comments of my most recent #AskErika blog post! I am very much looking forward to starting that series and making the most of being able to share my experiences with you.

Proof that makeup free days actually do exist! They just aren't as documented! But...when possible, I plan to share those too!

Pretty flowers that the hubby surprised me with after work one day! He knows how hard I have been working and he always shows me how proud he is of all that I have accomplished!

I do not think I can even begin to express my level of obsession with my newest find at Zara (AND IT WAS ON MAJOR SALE)! A Camel colored (warm, cozy and high fashion) kimono! You will see this coat a lot in this post and in the future! I cannot even find this gem on their website anymore to share with you all!

#AskErika Career advice?

It has been requested on more than one occasion that I provide life or career or relationship advice! I couldn't think of a better way to get started than to have all of you submit your questions so that we can start a series on my blog called #AskErika!

I ask that you put any questions that you may have on any of those three topics in the comments section of this blog post and once I have enough questions...I will write an #AskErika blog post on the particular topics!

Deal? Deal!

I have had my share of experiences in these 28 years of life...from career mistakes, to relationship (including friendship mistakes) to life mistakes! None of us are perfect. But, in order to enjoy life, you have to take the good with the bad. You have to use your mistakes as stepping stones to get to where you want to be. And as much as I find it surprising sometimes that I am not a surgeon in New York City...everything happens for a reason! In future blog posts, I can even explain the back story regarding how I switched from the Doctor path to the Finance path!

Anyways, please don't hesitate to leave specific questions below! My hope may be to eventually turn this into a video series...just to give you an idea of where I am going with it!

Stella & Dot Spring 2015 Samples - Part I

Hey there beautiful girls! My first run at the Stella & Dot Spring 2015 collection has arrived! I placed my first Spring 2015 sample order prior to attending the Stella & Dot event last Saturday. I am still waiting for a few other items to arrive but I had to share photos of the samples that have arrived thus far! You will definitely be seeing these items more as I style them because trust me...these pictures don't do these items justice.

The Birdie necklace is a versatile piece that can be worn three ways! Well, actually four ways if you count wearing the leather and chiffon petals as a hair accessory! You can wear the entire necklace if you are more into statement pieces. Or you can detach the leather and chiffon petals and have a simple yet classic vintage gold necklace that can be worn on either side (stones facing outward or inward). This is the first item from the Spring 2015 collection that caught my eye...for obvious reasons! Its stunning!

The Grace cuff is such a beautiful piece of jewelry! I love how elegant it looks both on and off! You can wear this cuff to work, for a casual weekend or even with your after 5 attire! A must have in your jewelry collection if you are into wearing cuffs.

The subtle presentation of the pastel colors in the Trellis necklace is what caught my attention! While this necklace is also a statement necklace, the color selection of the pastel stones makes it look perfect when worn with solid colored blouses, sweaters and/or dresses!

Although I am not a huge fan of wearing rings since getting married because my wedding set (engagement ring + wedding band) gets all the love...as it should...I just had to own the Zinnia split ring! Its such a beautiful cocktail ring and the sea foam stones pair perfectly with the glass sparkle! Keep in mind that the Zinnia Split Ring and the Grace cuff are adjustable! So no need to fret if these two items don't fit perfectly right out of the box!

Stella & Dot Brunch + Nude Lip Perfection

Hello beautiful girls! I hope that all of you are doing well and enjoyed the longer weekend if you were off yesterday for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

My bun day continued on Friday and let me tell you...buns are so convenient for working out daily. I just keep my hair in the bun and wrap my silk scarf around to keep the edges sleek. The scarf also helps to keep my hair from reverting back once I start sweating. We had date night at Asian Mint (sushi please!) and then went to Total Wine to check out their French wines on display right now.

Details on my lip cocktail for today can be found down below, as I wore it on both Friday and Saturday. My earrings are by Bauble Bar, scarf is from J. Crew, faux fur coat is from Piperlime, blouse is from J. Crew, jeans are Joe's Jeans and my flats are an old find from Tory Burch! My Dita Magnifique sunglasses always create quite the stir! If you can find them still and having any desire to own them, my advice is to get them ASAP. The pair I have sold out 2 days after I bought them from Bloomingdales. I linked to two online retailers below that appear to still have them in stock! You will not be disappointed if you add these to your collection of sunglasses.

Saturday morning started with the Stella & Dot brunch I attended at the Las Colinas Country Club. I loved getting a front row sneak peek at the Spring 2015 collection since my samples aren't scheduled to arrive until today! Check out some of my favorites of the newest additions below! I will be sure to share more once my samples arrive and I am able to style them! I am planning to wear the Birdie necklace this weekend to a luncheon I am attending on Saturday! If you want to check out more of the Spring 2015 collection, visit my Stella & Dot site

My favorite nude lip combo of the moment that I also shared on Instagram! I use MAC's Plum lip pencil, with Hourglass lipstick in Fawn, topped with a little of the the NYX Soft Matte lip cream in Stockholm. Nude lip perfection for my complexion!

For my outfit of the day, I paired a blush top from Ann Taylor that is nearly 5 years old I believe with some boyfriend jeans and a pair of leopard pumps from Jessica Simpson! All of my jewelry was Stella & Dot with the exception of the pendant necklace that I wear everyday!

Fun collage below on all the selfies that never make it! Thought it would be fun to share a couple of the selfies that don't get posted! I think the general rule is for every one selfie that is posted...there are 50 more that you just weren't happy with for one reason or another!

The only other thing I did Saturday was accompany hubby to test drive cars! Well, it ended up being one car because that car is pretty much what he wants. We then went to CarMax to get an appraisal done on his current car just to see what we stand to gain if we traded it in this week. After CarMax, we went to The Porch Restaurant for date night x 2. Their black and blue martini (which is off the menu now) is my favorite cocktail.

Sunday. I started bright and early watching church service in Maryland at Reid Temple. After that, I focused on my weekly chores that I like to get done on Sundays. For a late lunch, babe and I went to Torchy's Tacos! One of our favorite Dallas Eats if you want to check it out.

The lipstick of the day was Wet n' Wild Sugar Plum Fairy! My leggings are the J. Crew pixie pants. My denim top is an old find from Anthropologie and the necklace is Zara Accessories (also an old find)!

Monday. I used my day of service to gather clothing and shoes to donate to my local homeless shelter. I even had some items that still had tags on them! I am hopeful that the 53 items I am planning to donate this week are a blessing to a lot of people. The only other things I did on Monday was wash my hair and put away all of the Christmas decorations. Finished the three day weekend with a glass of wine...well, a splash of wine. Because we all know wine sends my sinuses crazy.

Today's lip cocktail was MAC's Lip Liner in Soar with Wet n' Wild lipstick in Wine Room. My shirt is an old find from J. Crew. They usually come out with a similar design every spring!

Until next time...check me out on Instagram!
