Utah, Birthday Behavior & More

Long time, no posting. It has been a whirlwind nearly two weeks. I went to Park City, Utah for work. I literally arrived back in town at nearly 8 pm on a Friday and changed clothes quickly to make a late dinner date with babe at Pappa Bros Steakhouse [our favorite steakhouse in Dallas]. The next day I woke up early because there was no way I was missing Nike Training Club. After NTC, I rushed to rod set my hair for my best friend's 31st birthday celebration. After going a million miles per hour, my body and skin said it needed some recovery. So this week, I focused on resting, working out and listening to my body. Babe & I even did two spontaneous date nights during the week. On Tuesday, we went out to dinner at Mi Cocina and then went to see Straight Outta Compton. On Thursday, we went to dinner at Mi Dia from Scratch and then came home to watch one of our favorite shows on DVR - Seven Year Switch. Then Friday came and we had our usual date night. I went to bed earlier than usual on Friday to make sure I was well rested for NTC on Saturday morning. And I guess resting paid off because I won MVP at NTC! I've been going consistently for two months and it really has changed my workout routine for the better. It was so rewarding to win MVP because I felt like I was being rewarded for doing something I love.

Now, please enjoy the picture overload that is coming below!

View from the funicular ride up to the St. Regis Deer Valley

The view from dinner at the St. Regis Deer Valley! Talk about incredible views all around!

I love Park City! Fourth time there for work in 12 months! I have officially experienced all seasons.

Running in Park City at the higher altitude was difficult but I accomplished my goal! I wanted to run at least a matter how difficult it was to breathe.

Flying over the Southwest corner of Colorado

Straight off the airplane and changed for date night.

A lot of people have asked how I preserve my curls at night and while working out! Lucky for you, its super easy. I do a pineapple with a silk scarf. My hair isn't quite long enough to do a pineapple with a scrunchie so this works best for my length.

Fresh curls for my bestie's birthday celebration

I love all things lace! This dress was a HIT! And at less than $50, I feel incredibly lucky to have it in my wardrobe! Yes, I love spending money on quality items. However, who doesn't like a bargain...especially when it doesn't look like a bargain. The Heiress dress is from Fashion Nova and can be found here.

Chill attire for brunch on Sunday with my girlfriend who is relocating to Austin!

Before NTC on Saturday, before even expecting to win MVP

And the aftermath! Almost 600 calories burned! I gave it my ALL!

Today, I am resting up and preparing for Arizona! I leave in T-1 days and I will be gone from my hubby until Thursday! I plan to continue makeup-free until my skin recovers from all the traveling. However, I did get some makeup brush laundry done today for when I am ready to get dolled up again!

THANKFUL FOR EACH OF YOU!! Hope that you have an awesome week!

Preparing for Utah - Travel Bag

Hello there beautiful girls! I have been asked before to share my purse organization for when I travel. I hope to do a more detailed post of what is contained in each item, as well as show the items I add for work either while I am in Utah or when I return.

In the days leading up to traveling for work, I usually will switch to the tote or bag that I prefer to travel with. I usually carry the Lonchamp LePliage Medium Tote but I missed my Stella & Dot Avalon tote - so I went back to using it for this trip.

Pre-planning like this helps when its time to prepare the night before my flight. I already have my essentials that I use on a daily basis. All I end up having to add is my travel items - camera, chargers, printed itinerary, work documents, work laptop, etc. I can tell you that since I started doing this, I have't had to purchase anything on the go simply because I forgot to pack it! I even carry two fully charged external batteries for my phone.

Featured Items:

Stella & Dot Avalon Tote

Orla Kiely Sweet Pea Double Zip Beauty Organizer

One Truffle Privacy Pouch

Kate Spade Layton Wellesley Mint Leather Wallet

iPad mini with Logitech Ultra-thin Keyboard Folio

iPhone 6 with Silicone Case in Pink

Preparing for Utah & A Healthy Meal

Hello there loves! This has been a really relaxing weekend for me. I have been very busy at work as I try to meet some deadlines before leaving for Utah [for work]. As I was looking at my photos to consider a week & weekend recap, I realized that I didn't have very many. This week mainly consisted of working out, working and trying healthy new dishes with babe. One of the many things I love about my husband is that he is not afraid to try new dishes that are healthy but full of flavor! He ended up making some lime & cilantro shrimp with zucchini spaghetti. It was INCREDIBLE! Full of flavor and spice! And very friendly towards my body goals! haha!

I posted the dish on Instagram and a few people asked for a recipe BUT there isn't one! Between combining recipes he found online and using some of the techniques we learned in our cooking class last weekend at Central Market. After a few more times of him making it, my goal is to write it up into a beautiful recipe that I can share.

Its so strange how some weeks I can go without taking many pictures the entire week and then there are other weeks...that are photograph and selfie madness.

Not sure if any of you will remember the last time I was in Utah. I have been to Utah at least 4 times or more in the past year. The last time I was there was in April 2015. You can check out that blog post here. Sadly the hotel that I stayed at last night was SOLD OUT this time, so I had to settle for second best. I know, I know. It is all very tragic but I plan to work my  behind off anyways!

Hello Monday! A Weekend Recap

Good Morning loves! Happy Monday! I am actually starting this blog post on a Sunday but it is likely to be published on Monday morning! I hope that all of you had an enjoyable weekend because I certainly did.

Friday, we went out to Perry's Steakhouse in Frisco because it was the last day of the anniversary special! A four-course meal for $44 and it did not disappoint. For my appetizer, I had the crab cake. For my soup or salad, I chose the Caesar salad. For my entree, I had the gazillion pound pork chop that Perry's Steakhouse is known for. I still have some left over in the refrigerator. And I topped it all off with dessert! Cant remember the name of it but it was delicious. This was our first time visiting the Frisco location, as we typically visit the location Uptown.

On Saturday, I woke up early to attend #NTCDallas with hubby. After that, I rushed home to prepare for brunch/lunch with my girlfriend. We had lunch at Hattie's because I forgot when I made the reservation that they don't do brunch on Saturday. We finished off our lunch date with a visit to Emporium Pies in the Bishop Arts District. A must try, for sure, if you are located in the DFW area. Finished off Saturday with a cooking class at Central Market where we learned how to cook a few Brazilian dishes and a dessert. The cooking class absolutely blew my mind! My husband is always finding new ways to surprise me and allow us to continue to experience new things together! I was able to take away so much from that class including all of the recipes we made that night.

Sunday was pretty relaxing! Church followed by a much deserved NexGen manicure and Signature pedicure at my favorite salon in Coppell. Finally found someone that I considered a gem after my previous nail tech relocated to New York City!

And for a few beginning of the week highlights! I ran two miles this morning in the best per mile time I have had in a while! My goal is to get under 9 minutes in the next two weeks! I may even meet that goal this week. The other highlight is my hair being straightened. The last time my hair was straightened, it was done professionally on June 15th! After going without no heat for over 30 days, I knew I wanted to straighten my hair so I could trim the ends. Now that I've had a good trim, I am going to wear my hair straight until it runs its course and then back to CURLY I WILL GO! I usually will trim my hair every 30 days myself and get a more professional trim every 8 weeks or so. I will likely not get a professional trim completed until my birthday month - October!
